Philippians 4:19- But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

• This verse is a promise that has strengthened and sustained us over the years.
• God has always and always will
  

• The word discontent describes the average American and Christian in today’s world. Bigger, better, newer and nicer are what we are going after.
• We always want the newest car, the biggest house, better relationships, new jobs, better pay,
  

• Verses 8 and 9 cannot be separated. They are of the same thought and go together as a continuous thought.

Phil. 4:8-9- Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are

Philippians 4:5b- The Lord is at hand.

• Paul was not talking about the return of Christ. Instead, Paul is talking about the presence of the Lord with us. He is always with us and strengthens us in our time
  

• Fear and worry are very real problems in the life of Christians.
• This text offers help when it comes to worry and fear.

Phil 4:6- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving

• The theme of chapter 4:1-9 is spiritual stability.
• As Christians we are commanded to hold our position while under attack.
• The church was experiencing three different things:
  • Persecution- Philippians 1:29
  • False teachers
  • Conflict and division

• As a church, we need to be a stable light in an unstable community.
• Being unified in the church is very important.
• Why can’t Christians get along with each other? It’s because we still have our old adamic

Who loves sports? That’s what Paul loved. Paul made many sport references in his writings. (Boxing, wrestling, a relay race, Olympic Games). Today the text is likened to a footrace.
