Isaiah 9:6- For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

  • He is the Son of God as well as 100% man. He never has stopped being God and never will.
  • This morning we are going to focus on one word; Wonderful.
    • The idea of the word wonderful means miraculous, miracle or extraordinary.

Three reasons why Jesus was Miraculous.

First, Jesus was miraculous in his birth.

Isaiah 7:14- Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

  • The supernatural birth of Jesus.

Luke 1:26- And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

  • Jesus’ birth was a birth like no other.

Luke 1:34- Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

Secondly, Jesus was miraculous in his life.

  • He was sinless, perfect and will always be.

Romans 3:10- As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

  • Jesus was not a sinner by nature. Unlike us, it was impossible for Jesus to sin.
  • Even others mentioned the sinless nature of Jesus Christ throughout scripture.

Lastly, Jesus was miraculous in his death.

  • All three are connected together. He had to be born perfect, live a perfect life and die a perfect death for you and I.
  • Missions are important. Jesus died for the sins of all humanity. The world needs to hear the message of the Gospel.
  • Everything about the death of Jesus was miraculous. For that, we should be very thankful.
  • His name is Wonderful.
  • He can do in our lives what we can only imagine doing.
