• Fear and worry are very real problems in the life of Christians.
  • This text offers help when it comes to worry and fear.

Phil 4:6- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

  • In this text the word careful means anxious.
  • Worry can pull us in different directions.

James 1:8- A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

  • Worry can also have a physical effect on our bodies.
  • Worry robs us of joy.
  • Do you have the joy of the Lord today?

Psalms 34:1- I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Two ways we can have victory over worry.

First, we must pray right.

  • Prayer shows our dependence on God.

Phil 4:6- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Phil 4:13- I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

  • We must keep our focus on God by:
    • Prayer- to worship or adore.
      • We need to get alone, pray and show adoration to who God is.
      • Getting our focus back on God.
      • The bigger our God is, the smaller our problem is.
      • We need to remember Who we need to focus on.
    • Supplication- asking for specific prayer requests.
      • Express your fears and worries to God.
      • Get specific in your prayer life.
    • Thanksgiving- appreciate.
      • Be thankful for what God has done in our lives.
      • God has been so good to us.
    • Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything.
    • Verse 7 is the result of the right kind of prayer- the peace of God.

VS 7- And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

  • Prayer doesn’t change our circumstances, but rather it changes us.
  • Never underestimate the power of prayer.

Second, we must think right.

VS 8- Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

  • Wrong thinking leads to wrong feeling.

Isaiah 26:3- Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

  • Watch what you are thinking about.
  • What should we think about?
    • Things that are true. VS 8
      • 92% of things that happen in our lives involve the following:
        • Things that we imagine.
        • Things that will never happen.
        • Things that are beyond our control.
        • Saturate your mind with the word of God.
    • Things that are honest and just. VS 8
      • Things that please God by getting into the Bible.
    • Things that are pure. VS 8
      • We should have a clean thought life.
    • Things that are lovely. VS 8
      • Pleasing and attractive to God.
    • Things of good report. VS 8
      • If we are going to live Godly, we need to think Godly.
    • What are you worried about today? Take those worries to God.

Do you know Christ as your Savior?  Do you know for sure you are going to heaven when you die?  You can know for sure you are going to heaven and that your sins are forgiven!
